It’s common today for people to move quickly into relationships or get swept off their feet. While traveling in Arizona, I met a psychologist who told me it really takes one year to get to know someone. Everyone you meet comes with a mask or facade. That mask is visible the first 1-2 months and by 3-4 months you can sense if there are a cracks in mask, or if that is really who they are. By one year you should know them on a more intimate level. Understanding this notion, it makes much of the modern dating advice seem like an absolute mess that goes against the grain of the natural process of getting to know each other .
