It’s Friday, that means date night! I wrote a book entitled 101 Creative Dates: ideas, tips, and personal experiences from the life of a hopeless romantic. I love creative dates. It is fun to come up with a new idea or put a twist on a classic idea and take a girl out and have fun. I had all kinds of ideas and personal experiences with dating, so I made a book about it and recently published in on Amazon. Don’t let “Netflix and Chill” be the default for your dates! Married, dating someone, single, there is something for everyone!

Creative Date #12 Serve It Up!

If you and your date are in a “giving” mood, you could do a service activity together. Some ideas could be volunteering at a soup kitchen at Christmas time, or maybe you could set up a free car wash for a few hours. You could go to one of your neighbor’s houses, maybe an elderly couple’s home, and do yard work for them, and then afterwards have a water fight to clean off. Feed My Starving Children is an excellent place to do some good will. Service activities are always really fun for those involved, and no matter how messy or tired you get, you always wind up feeling great inside afterwards.

What you need for this date:
You don’t need much for this to be successful, only your willingness to serve others, your time, and whatever supplies you’ll need, depending on the project you’ll be doing. is a great place to find service projects.

My commentary on this date:
Growing up, I had the opportunity to do a lot of service projects in group settings, and there was usually a girl there that I had some interest in beyond friendship. That’s not the main reason why I was there, in case you’re wondering if I’m just a womanizer. Flirting while doing good to others is just an added perk, right?
During one group project in particular, everyone involved had a smashing good time and the recipients of the service were thrilled. I remember going to and elderly woman’s house and our group picked weeds, mowed her front yard, pruned the trees, raked leaves and ground clutter, among other things. Afterwards, the yard looked immaculate and the woman was so grateful. I felt pretty good after that, cute girls or not.
